Immobilise a vehicle and restore it

Admins open the vehicle's card on the Live map, press Immobilise, and confirm with a code from their email; Restore undoes it.

Who can do it: Admin Admins only. Everyone sees whether a vehicle is immobilised.

Immobilise stops the vehicle from being started. It doesn't switch off a vehicle that is driving. It works through a relay fitted to the vehicle's tracker, and is for a stolen or misused vehicle that is standing still, never for stopping one on the road. Restore lets the engine start again.

The Immobilise button shows only on vehicles that have a relay fitted. Your provider fits the relay and switches it on for the vehicle.

Immobilise

  1. On the Live map, click the vehicle to open its card, and press Immobilise.
  2. Press Email me a code. A 6-digit code arrives by email; it works once, within 10 minutes.
  3. In Type KA01AB1234 to confirm, type the vehicle's registration, and type the Code from your email.
  4. Press Immobilise KA01AB1234.

The app sends it only when the vehicle has stopped. The vehicle then shows Immobilised on the map and in your vehicle list. When the command reaches the tracker, every Admin gets an email saying who did it, when and where.

Restore

  1. Open the vehicle's card and press Restore.
  2. Type the vehicle's registration to confirm, and press Restore KA01AB1234.

No code is needed, so a driver is never left waiting by the road. When the restore reaches the tracker, every Admin gets an email.

If it doesn't go

  • "KA01AB1234 is moving. Immobilise when it has stopped." Wait until it has stopped, then try again.
  • "KA01AB1234 isn't reporting, so we can't tell whether it is moving. Immobilise it when it is reporting again." The vehicle shows Offline. Wait until it reports.
  • "KA01AB1234's engine is running, so it could drive off. Immobilise when its ignition is off." On some trackers, the engine must be off first.
  • "KA01AB1234 last reported more than 2 minutes ago, so we can't be sure it is still stopped. Immobilise when it reports again, or when its ignition is off." Wait for its next report.
  • "The tracker isn't connected, so nothing was sent. Try again when the vehicle is reporting." Nothing is kept to send later. Your code still works within its 10 minutes.
  • A restore: "The tracker isn't connected. The restore goes to it as soon as it connects; until then the vehicle stays immobilised." It goes by itself once the tracker reconnects. If it hasn't within a few minutes of the vehicle reporting again, contact support.
  • "KA01AB1234 is immobilised. Restore it before changing its tracker." Restore it first. Removing the vehicle from your fleet will need a restore first too.
